The globalisation of capital has led communities around the World to reorganise the ways that money comes into, and circulates around their area. LETSystems are trading networks which enable people and organisations to exchange goods and services using local (LETS) pounds. Local pounds differ from sterling and dollars because they are issued by their users when they need them, so they are never in short supply.

This film has been produced by Psychicbread in association with Manchester Permaculture, the group who are responsible for resent community currency developments in the area.

The project has been funded by the above organisations involvement in the LETSystem. Payment was made using 70% LETS and 30% Sterling for the first 1000 units, 100% LETS for the next 500 units and future work will be funded by a mechanism called the LETShare, which is a process of logging the value of individuals input into the local currency development initiative.

We welcome any Sterling donations towards this project, which will enter the system as outlined above. The exchange of currency is necessary but it needs to be balanced.
